Chile: Stars above the desert
Observatories in La Silla and Paranal - a voyage not only for friends of Astronomy

La Silla: LMC-Region North Chile accommodates some of the best telescope locations on the world. Among them the two largest and most modern observatories of the ESO (European Southern Observatory) ' La Silla ' and ' Cerro Paranal ' with the VLT (Very Large Telescope). Scientists from the whole world investigate here with the most modern devices of the astronomy our surrounding universe. The singular altitude, absolutely dry climate, stably laminated high-pressure and a situation faraway of each light and air-dust permit these locations to very singular observation conditions.

The great Attractor The scientists look here with ultramodern sky devices into the 'child room' of the universe and try to find some secrets. And, how deeper they look with the giant telescopes into the universe, so older become the universe. Galaxy islands, which are light-years away, more than 15 billion in a distance are already seized and inconceivable leave the universe to appear.

On this special route, which developed from the Space Traveller's in co-operation with the Earthways travel service and with Argentum Travel, you can risk a view. Not only into the universe, also for a lot of impressions of this South American country with it's wild nature and the Atacama desert, the driest desert of the world.
