Informations
Historical facts
The Rocketplane Limited, Inc was founded on the 16th July, 2001 in the US federal state Oklahoma. Besides, the founders of the company had only one purpose: To build a rocket airplane, what is able to carry passengers in more than 100-km flight altitude and to prepare for them the experience of their life.
The corporation is organized under the board of directors, led by George D. French, Jr. which also Dr. William Byrd, Dr. Eric Rice, Dr. James Stuart and former Air Force general Merrill A. McPeak belong to.
Rocketplane has done a partnership with the Orbital Technologies Corporation (ORBITEC), an extremely successful company of the aerial industry and space industry located in Madison, Wisconsin. ORBITEC is an owner of the patent for the first fully reusable rocket engine of the world.
In 2003 Rocketplane Limited, Inc qualified themselves as a 'Qualified Space Transportation Provider' under the guidelines positioned to themselves in OK Senate Bill 817. Since then the enterprise leaves the design phase behind itself and works on the development ' Rocketplane XP ' under leadership of the XP Program Manager David G. Faulkner.
In original the design of the Rocketplane XP based on the airframe of the Lear Jet 25. Rocketplane Global, Inc. has finalized significant changes to their suborbital vehicle the Rocketplane XP in 2007. The changes are focused at making the vehicle more responsive to the emerging sub-orbital tourism market and also represent refinements to the engineering design.
The changes include seating for five passengers in an all new airframe, the addition of afterburning jet engines and an interior designed by internationally renowned and award winning industrial designer, Frank Nuovo - (BMW/Designworks USA, Nokia, Vertu). The new design was showed first time during the XPrize-Cup at the Holloman Airforce base at New Mexico from October 26th to 28th.
Rocketplane XP will celebrate its roll out in late 2008. Then the first test flights begin in early 2009. Approval by the FAA for admission of the first commercial flights is expected in mid 2009; up to now the project "is precisely in time".
The Spaceport Oklahoma
Rocketplane Limited, Inc and Oklahoma Space Industry Development Agency (OSIDA) have bundled up their forces to bring the state Oklahoma to the point of the aerial industry and space industry. Together with the state Oklahoma, OSIDA and Rocketplane will further develop the potential of Oklahoma Spaceport and use.
Oklahoma Spaceport owns with a length of 13.502 feet (4.115 m) the third-biggest runway for starting and landing operations in North America; the runway also serves as an alternative landing field for the Space Shuttle and is used every single day by military and private airplanes. The total area with all constructions, offices, hangars and housing and servicing halls encloses more than 17 square kilometers.
The Spaceport lies in immediate neighborhood of the 'State of the Art Western Technology Center' in Burns Flat, where the technologies and training equipment are ready which is used by Rocketplane for the preparatory training for the space flights. Oklahoma Spaceport is with thus one of the worldwide best of all equipped start places in all for space flights with both tourist operations and scientific missions.

Questions and answers
What is a suborbital space flight?
A suborbital space flight is a flight with a spacecraft which leaves the earthly atmosphere and reaches a flight altitude from 330,000 feet (100+ km) about the sea level. The passengers experience the weightlessness and become certified civilian astronauts.
When will the flights start?
Rocketplane Limited, Inc has realized a unique design with the Rocketplane XP. At the moment the construction is already in the last phase, so that at the beginning of the commercial flights is to be in the 4th quarter 2009.
Can my family and my friends observe my spaceflight?
You can accompany members of the family and friends during your training in Oklahoma Spaceport and observe as you earn your "Civilian Astronaut Wings". If you have finished your mission, receive two videos: one of your astronaut's training and one of your spaceflight.
How high are the costs for this program?
The Americans Dennis Tito and Greg Olsen, South African businessman Mark Shuttleworth and the following Space Tourists have paid many million dollars for their dream of the space flight. Now, finally, with Rocketplane and Space Travellers, flights in space the flights become payable. Price starts for the first 50 "flounder seats" at 210.000,- €. Please contact to Andreas P. Bergweiler of Space Travellers to get to know more about the actual reservation.
Which trainings is required as a condition for the flight?
We put at security guidelines very much great value and, therefore we will carry out there and then at Oklahoma Spaceport a special training for space passengers. The civil astronaut's training contains a complete preparatory program with several simulations, personal fitness coaches and the use of special high-tech centers.
How can I book for a Rocketplane XP flight?
Quite simply: Choose +49 2628 987420, and speak with Andreas P. Bergweiler: He is one of the best known space experts of Europe and has graduated himself already from many cosmonaut- and astronaut trainings, e.g., the Edge of Space Flight, the Survival training of the cosmonauts as well as parabolic flights, centrifuge test etc. He will discuss all personal preliminaries and appointments with you, and answer all of your questions. Do not hesitate to contact him.
