The Lynx – A Revolutionary Flight Concept
From the renowned American manufacturer XCOR, the two seater Lynx represents new, especially safe techniques employed for the departure into space: Like a standard aircarft, it takes off and lands horizontally, and during the flight its rocket fuel propulsion can be activated and deactivated as required. The cockpit offers a comfortable space, and is specially designed to provide to the participant optimum panoramic views.
Prices and Conditions
The cost of the Lynx flight program, including full pre-flight preperation training and the necessary personal equipment, is 95,000 USD. A deposit of 20,000 USD is required from day of booking. In cases where the passenger, due to unforeseen circumstances, is not able to take the flight, the deposit will be returned minus the training costs incurred. After successfully completing the training the remainder of 75,000 USD is required to secure a firm reservation for flight aboard the Lynx. The total flight price is insured to the full amount for up to 7 years against the risk of cancellation. The first training programme was conducted in May 2009.
When Is Take Off?
All developments are going to plan so that in the coming year, the required 50 test flights for the American F.A.A. can take place, 17 of which will reach the full height of 61km. From the start of 2011, the Lynx will carry passengers regularly for up to 5 times a day.
