Space Walk in the Hydrolab - Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre (GCTC) -
Star City - Russia

Simulated EVA (Extra Vehicular Activity) in Russian Space Suit Orlan-DMA Go on your own "space walk". You will be in the Russian Space Suit "Orlan DMA", it be used by Russian Cosmonauts to work outside space crafts and space stations, so called "EVA" (Extra Vehicular Activities). This training will be used for simulated weightlessness. Your Orlan-DMA Suit (weight on ground about 125 kg) will be catched by a hook (and you are inside in this little own space-craft), and then you will discharged into the emormous deep Hydrolab basin.

The lift- and the drift balance will be adjusted in the basin with the help of your instructors, and you will have the same feeling, as you are flowing into space into weightlessness. Then you will go on your own "Space Mission". You will work at so called "MockUps" of the International Space Station ISS. These are 1:1 large models of the modules of the ISS, and you will work like on a EVA.

The heavy Orlan-DMA Space Suit was developed for outboard activities in free space, and weights on earth approx. 125 kilograms. In the universe they do not weight anything! The work in the Orlan Space Suit ranks among the most complex and most difficult maneuvers, which it applies to manage. The cosmonauts do this training vain for months, in order to fulfill their own dream sometime: freely floating in the universe, the blackness of the universe over them (or under them) and the earth under their feet (or over their feet - depending upon point of view).

Up to 8 hours the cosmonaut can be free in space, attached with a security-hook with a steel-cable. The Orlan Space Suite its a own small spaceship, which is equipped with life support systems. For repair work or assembly works outside developed, it ranks among the milestones in space travel history, Orlan was the first liquid-cooled space suit of the world. Orlan is the Russian word for "Eagle".

You can experience this adventure, by learning the procedures and handles in the so mentioned Hydrolabic of the GCTC (Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre)in this very large water basin, and therefore the Orlan Space Suit is necessary - to move freely under water - and feel and simulate the weightlessness of space.

Our special offer, and your experience: our tamdem-dive!
With your partner, who is also in his own Orlan Space Suit in the basin, you will train like you are in the orbit and flew out in the universe!
